English: Matt Lauer, foreground, the host of NBCs The Today Show, speaks to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, left, Dr. Story Landis, center, the director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Raymond T. Odierno Sept. 5, 2012, at the NBC studios in New York. During the broadcast, Goodell announced that the NFL will donate $30 million for concussion and traumatic brain injury research. A week earlier, the Army and the NFL announced a long-term initiative to educate Soldiers and football players about traumatic brain injuries. |
