Above and im-mediately below the clavicles there are, in many cases, masses ofsubcutaneous fat. The gait is clumsy, and the movements of the CRETIXISM. 257 hands slow aiul awkward. The extremities are cohi. The intelli-gence and general condition of the patients are worse in winter. Thearrest of physical and mental development may be snch that a cretinof twenty years is no bigger than a child of three, is an idiot andunable to speak, and must be fed and dressed.
