Medieval Seal: Papal Bulla of Urban VI (obverse and reverse)
Description
English: Papal Bulla of Urban VI (1378-1389 AD). Obverse inscription reads SPA SPE (St Paul and St Peter). Paul is depicted on the left with Peter on the right. They are both surrounded by beaded borders- said to possibly imitate a halo- and in between them is depicted a cross. A beaded border encompasses the entire obverse image. The reverse inscription reads URBANUS PP VI with an encompassing beaded border.
