Title
Medieval aglet
Description
English: A silver lace tag or aglet dating from the Medieval period. It is a cone of silver sheet with a polyhedral terminal at the closed end (in the form of a cube with the corners cut off). There are two small circular fixing holes at the open end on either side of the faint seam which can be seen at the open end of the cone. It is not clear whether the terminal is integral or separate.

Compare Treasure Annual Report 2001, p.69, no.120 from Rendham, Suffolk (SF6553; 2001 T34); Treasure Annual Report 2003, p.115, no.219 from Woodbridge area (2003 T49); and Treasure Annual Report 2004 p.116, no.226 from East Ewell (2004 T380).

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
