English: Medieval iron possible Woodman's axehead, 240mm in length and with a cutting edge 88mm wide.
The socket is triangular in section, measuring 25x51mm. On either side are two projections, one extending from each side of the axe body. There is no maker's mark visible and the axe is very rusted. Reference: London Museum Medieval Catalogue p.62 fig.14 no.4. Cf. LANCUM-BB00D3 from Kington St Michael, Wiltshire. |
