Title
Medieval buckle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper-alloy single loop buckle with forked spacers dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1350-1450). The buckle frame is oval, D-shape in cross-section with a projecting knop and lipped bevelled inside edges. Two integral spacers project from one side of the oval frame. Both have a raised horizontal band abutting the frame the upper and underside, and towards the end recess at a 90 degree angle to form a tapering pointed terminal. The narrow circular-sectioned pin bar that normally sits between the base of the spacer may be present but is obscured by deposition residue.

The buckle frame has a mottled mid and dark brown patina and measures 37.8mm long, 22.9mm diameter at the oval part of the frame, 14.9mm wide at the base of the spacers, and is 2mm thick across the frame. The entire object weighs 4.51 grams.
