Medieval buckle pin
Description
English: A copper alloy pin from a medieval buckle or brooch. It is of square section, tapering to a point. There is a collar on the front only between the loop and the pin. The loop attaching it to the pin bar has broken. It has a dark green patina. The pin is 31.9mm long, 3.9mm wide, and 8.3mm thick. It weighs 1.89gm. For reference see Egan and Pritchard 1991 Dress Accessories Medieval finds from excavations in London p.115. These examples date from 1270 – 1400 AD.
