Title
Medieval copper alloy strap end
Description
English: The cast front plate only of a later medieval composite copper alloy strap-end of crescentic type, which would have originally had a sheet metal back plate, the crescentic upper section of the body has incised linear decoration and an open circular aperture at the top. There is wear and some damage to the tips of this crescent. The integral lower section (terminal) is solid, and moulded in the form of a trifoliate leaf. There is a small hole through this section. Two iron rivets through points at upper end. For an example with the back plate in position see NMS-D438F7
