Description
English: Medieval chape; Lace tag of probable 13th – 15th century date, formed of a sheet of copper alloy rolled into a conical shape with an overlapping seam down the back. The narrower end of the chape is circular and open but the wider end has been nipped or squashed to a flattened oval shape, possibly to hold the lace or strap into the chape. The object has been dented across the front. Length 51.8mm, width 11.9mm, thickness 6.3mm, weight 4.23g
