Title
Medieval lace tag (chape)
Description
English: A copper-alloy medieval lace tag or chape (similar those illustrated in Egan and Pritchard 1991, 288). It is oval in cross-section, hollow and evenly rolled. One end is open, the other is closed by a folded flap. Near the open end the tag has been crushed and slightly bent. The seam is visible along the length of the object where the edges of the sheet do not quite meet. This artefact is slightly worn with a deep green patina.
