Title |
Medieval or Post Medieval chape |
||
Description |
English: Complete Medieval copper alloy lace chape, 1300-1450 AD. The find consists of a triangular-plan chape formed from folded sheet copper alloy with an edge-to-edge seam. Corresponding circular rivet holes have been pierced in each side of the chape, slightly inset from the upper edge. At the lowest point the sheeting has been folded to create a closed end. The chape has a mid olive-green patina with some concretion. It measures 22.6mm long, 9.9mm wide and 4.3mm thick; it weighs 1.35 grams. |
