Title
Medieval single loop buckle
Description
English: A heavily corroded copper alloy item, probably a buckle, possibly with remains of the pin. The original form of the item is difficult to see under the corrosion but it appears to be a simple single loop buckle with a oval frame. The frame appears to be D-shaped in cross section witha flat back and originally 26.7mm long, 4.3mm wide and 2.3mm thick. There are corroded remains across the centre of the loop that may have been part of the pin. This simple form of buckle continued in use from the seventh to sixteenth centurys but the shape and thinness of the frame may suggest a date towards the end of this period. See SOMDOR-172678 for a possible parrallel.
