Title
Medieval to post medieval copper alloy looped fitting
Description
English: Medieval to post medieval copper alloy looped fitting

The fitting is complete (with a length of 25.2mm, a depth of 8.0mm, a thickness of 1.5mm and a weight of 2.2g). The fitting resembles a fish shape with a sub-triangular terminal (giving the fitting a maximum width of 12.3mm) and is gently convex across its width. On the rear (near the pointed end) is an integral, circular sectioned loop (8.2mm wide, 1.8mm diameter and 6.4mm high) defining a circular aperture (4.4mm diameter). Little of the original surface survives on the fitting and no applied decoration is discernible. The surface has a dark green patina and elsewhere is brown to bronze.

It is now unclear how the fitting was employed, it may have formed a catch on a small piece of furniture or used in conjunction with a dress hook
