Possibly made after his return from South Africa. general- drab tunic with brass NZ Volunteer Force buttons and post-horn collar badges and QSA medal ribbon. detail- single breasted, six buttons down front; fastens at neck with hooks and eyes; four curved patch pockets with button-down flaps; shoulder straps fastened with brass buttons; metal chain inside neck for hanging

Notes New Zealand Mounted Rifles drab tunic, Anglo Boer War Belonged to 630 Private Arthur Carwell Cooke, 3rd New Zealand Mounted Rifles. Possibly made after his return from South Africa. In 1901 men who had returned from South Africa were presented with their Queen's South Africa Medal by the visiting Duke of York. Ceremonies took place at several locations around the country. This may have been the occasion for which Arthur acquired a new tunic. Arthur Carwell Cooke received the following medal clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, South Africa 1901
