English: U.S. Military Working dog "Timmy" growls to protect his handler, Petty Officer 2nd Class Victor A. Longoria, assigned to the Military Working Dog Unit at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, April 14, after completing explosive detection certification training. Petty Officer Longoria and "Timmy" are one of the MWD teams assigned to Camp Lemonier. The dogs are trained daily and put through certification drills to maintain proficiency. The service members of Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability. |
