Description
English: The elegant ladies in this studio portrait are Miss Eileen Hanrahan (standing) and her sister Mrs Margaret Rawley, who lived at No. 2, The Mall in Waterford City.


Thanks to mogey and her work with the census online, we now know that Mrs Rowley, as we thought she was, was actually Mrs Rawley. At the time this photo was taken, Margaret Rawley was a widow and would have been aged around 32. Her unmarried sister, Eileen, who was a telegraph clerk, would have been around 25.

Somewhere along the line, Mrs Rawley either made a mistake in her census form filling, or was a little imaginative with her age. She recorded herself as 31 in the 1901 census, but as aged 37 in the 1911 census...
