The Palace of Nebuchadnezzar isabout the only building of Babylonspalmy days, of which there is much left,the reason for this being, firstly, Godthru His holy prophets said the deso-lation should be so complete, that Baby-lon would be an astonishment. Sec-ondly, God used the natural causes tofulfill these remarkable sayings againstthis most remarkable and most interest-ing of Bible Land cities. The outer wall as well as the innerone, with the exception of the gate tow-ers, and the inner wall towers, werebuilt of sun-baked brick, while practi-cally all the city with the exception ofthe palace, and a large square founda-tion about a half-mile south of the pal- ace, which - the archaeologists havemany reasons for believing to be thereal site of the Tower of Babel, werebuilt of the same material, very few ifany stone being used.
