Description
English: Page twenty-three of album with bust portrait of Lt. Col. John W. Fletcher (left) and a full-length portrait of Lt. Col. Andrew J. Barr (right). "Jefferson Co." and "Barr of Ray" (written on album page).

Fletcher was a delegate from Jefferson County (23rd senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865. During the Civil War, Lt. Col. Fletcher enlisted with the 47th Missouri Volunteer Infantry as a 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Quartermaster. He was promoted in November 1864 to Lt. Colonel, probably because his commander, Col. Thomas Fletcher, was elected as the Governor of Missouri. In fact, John and Thomas Fletcher may have been brothers, which is why John would have been given the opportunity to be a member of the convention.

Barr was a delegate from Ray County (10th senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865. During the Civil War, Lt. Col. Barr served as a colonel with the 51st Enrolled Missouri Militia from July 29, 1862 - August 7, 1864. He was given a commission as a Lt. Colonel with the 44th Missouri Volunteer Infantry and served in this unit from Sept. 28 1864 - May 15, 1865.
