Description
English: Copper alloy

Button. Flat button front with broad stub of integral suspension loop on reverse. The button front portrays an armorial shield with a complex blazon representing a medieval-style alliance of armigerous families, surmounted by three crests – apparently a dragon right flanked by heads of heraldic beasts – and with a scroll bearing legend (now illegible). Traces of gilt remain on the button front. This would be apt to a footman's uniform, or to the costume of similar retainers or estate functionaries. The reverse bears stamped manufacturer’s details as a circumferential legend in two concentric rings.

Diameter: 27.46mm, Thickness: 1.85mm, Weight: 6.14gms.
