Title |
Modern Toy Elephant |
||
Description |
English: Lead alloy toy. Solid cast toy elephant, naturalistically modelled at a scale of c.1:72-1:100 (depending on its age, as tusks are not shown). The animal is trotting, if not rampaging, with trunk raised. Spigots at the ends of two of its feet show it has lost a separate base. This might be a cracker novelty or possibly a piece for a board-game, as solid casting was not usual for toy soldiers and farm or zoo animals. The fresh surface condition may suggest a relatively recent date. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1939.
Length: 44.7mm, Height: 20.5mm, Thickness: 12.3mm, Weight: 38.74gms |
