From 1908 to 1916 Mr. McCarthy was engaged assales manager for a real estate firm selling largetracts of land located in various parts of the UnitedStates and Canada, and this afforded him an oppor-tunity for quite extensive traveling throughout thecountry. Among other successful transactions wasthe sale of a fifty-acre addition to Palm Beach, Flor-ida. It is known as the Palm Beach Heights Addi-tion and is now the most valuable residentialproperty in the city. This transaction netted him avery handsome profit. He was elected a justice of the peace of KalispellTownship in 1916 and in 1917 he received the ap-pointment as police judge, and is at present holdingboth these offices, having been re-elected in our lastgeneral election.
