English: Music Teachers’ School was founded on November 1, 1924 under the auspices of Ministry of Education. The first principal of the school was Osman Zeki Üngör who was also the first conductor of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. The students were children coming from the Male Teachers’ Training School (Erkek Muallim Mektebi) and Balmumcu Orphanage. One can spot the mudbrick hotel built by Şakir Ağa in the Hamamönü district. The Music Teachers’ School would be the core of the State Conservatory in future. The building became to host the Conservatory.
