Title
Neolithic arrowhead: leaf shaped.
Description
English: Flint arrowhead knapped from mottled beige/brown coloured flint. Both faces have negative flake scars, with re-touch along the edges. The arrowhead is a leaf shaped type, but is actually more a kite or lozenge shape in plan, which is described as a Type 1c or 2c by Green (1980 'The Flint Arrowheads of the British Isles. A detailed study of the material from England and Wales, with comparanda from Scotland and Ireland' Oxford: BAR British Series 75 i and ii). The arrowhead measures 43.49mm long and 19.73mm wide. It weighs 2.8g.

This shape of arrowhead, dates to the early to middle Neolithic period, 3500 to 2500 B.C ( Butler, C. 2005 Prehistoric Flintwork Tempus) and can occur in ceremonial sites of the later Neolithic.
