E H. VANDERHOOF, mer-chant, of Caldwell, Essex County, wasborn at that place, August 25, 1855.He Is a grandson of Richard Vander-hoof, a mason by trade, who, however,was for most of his life engaged In farming at Fair-field, Caldwell Township, where he died April 4,1853, aged seventy-two. He was an enlisted soldier Inthe War of 1812. His wife was Margaret Speer; shewas a member of the Reformed Church of Fairfield;died on the 19th of October, 1856, at the age of sixty-nine. The parents of George H. Vanderhoof were Wil-liam R. Vanderhoof and Sarah (De Camp) Vander-hoof, daughter of John De Camp of Caldwell. Wil-liam R. Vanderhoof (born August 30, 1825) was Inearly life a farmer in Caldwell Township, subse-quently following the masons trade in Newark,where he died. His family consisted of four children,Mary L. Both in his business and private relations hehas always enjoyed the highest personal standingamong his fellow citizens. He is a member of Cald-well Lodge, F. and A. M. April 8, 1880, he was married to Carrie Burnet,adopted daughter of Ransford Burnet of Newark,N. J. She died December 14, 1903, leaving onechild, Delia Catherine Vanderhoof, wife of LewisM. Crane. RICHARD W. BOOTH, of Nutley, Es-sex County, N. J., was born in Frank-lin (now incorporated in the Town ofNutley), in that county and State, onAugust 13, 1859, and is the son ofEnoch Booth and Mary M. Stager. His father was ahotel proprietor. On the paternal side he is of Eng-lish descent, while his maternal ancestors came origin-ally from Holland.
