One of the Sisters of Mercy who accompanied Florence Nightingale to the Crimea in 1854, Sister Anastasia Kelly: Sister Anastasia Kelly, born Rotherhithe 1827, who entered Bermondsey on 25th December 1842. Her Profession was on 21st October 1846 and she was one of the Sisters who went to Crimea and afterwards went on foundation to St John & St Elizabeth's Hospital. She died on 23rd October 1911. The original image is held by the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy Wellcome Images |
