English: Lieutenant Col. John C. Osborne, the battalion commander for 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, talks to the battalion shortly after Sgt. Johnathan Gould received the Purple Heart aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., March 11, 2014. Gould received the medal for his wounds suffered after an improvised explosive device detonated leaving him and three others with traumatic brain injuries. “There were five Marines within close proximity to the blast and four of us received traumatic brain injuries from the incident; three of the victims were medically evacuated from the site, and I stayed and was later treated at Camp Leatherneck,” said Gould of Lexington, Ohio. |
