This was written by E. G. [Eugene George] Webb, postmaster for Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania to Reuben M. Cronk, Deseronto's Chief of Police.

Dear Sir
Yours of the 13th inst at hand and in reply would say I am satisfied that your man is here. and we are very anxious that you should come after him, as we have no use for him if he is such a caractor as you claim he is.
Why dont you come at once and capture him and hold him here untill you can get a requisition from our Governer and then take him back.
The proper way for you to do is to come here at once and have him lodged in our county Gaol which you have a perfect right to do as he is a fugitive from Justice and you can arrest him wherever you can find him and then it will only cost about Twenty five or Thirty"
