Fringilla Cœlebs (Linn).—Le Pinson (Buff.). — Pinson Ordinaire (Cuv.) —Fringille Pinson (Fringilla Cœlebs), Vieill. — Gros-Bec Pinson (FringillaCœlebs), Temm.—Fringuello (Savi). Des naturalistes font dériver le nom de cette Frin-gille dun mot allemand, pinck, qui a beaucoup derapport avec lun de ses cris dappel ; dautresveulent quil lui ait été imposé à cause de son habi-tude de pincer avec le bec, souvent jusquau sang,les personnes qui le prennent avec la main. Le mâle du Pinson a 17 cent. 2-4 mill. de taille.La femelle est un peu plus petite ; sa longueur totalenest que de 16 cent.
