Fréquemment elles se rappellent pardes cris forts, qui pénètrent au loin ; aussi, lesentend-on souvent, sans pouvoir les distinguer,tant elles se trouvent élevées dans les airs. Lesherbes, les graines, les vers, les insectes, les petitspoissons et les grenouilles constituent la base deleur nourriture. Leur mue est simple. Les sexes seressemblent. Les jeunes de lan diffèrent un peu desvieux, en ce quils nont pas, comme eux, denudité à la tête. Une seule espèce de Grue passe en Savoie. LaGrue Demoiselle ( Grus Virgo ), Briss. , Temm.—( Anthropoïde Demoiselle , Anthropoïdes Virgo,Degl. ), a été tuée une fois en Suisse, près dAu-bonne, et une fois en Piémont : cest en considé-ration de ces deux captures faites près de notrepays, que je donnerai la description de cet oiseauà la fin de larticle suivant.
