Ailes courtes, concaveset arrondies. Queue susceptible de rester relevée. Les anciens naturalistes furent heureux dans lechoix de la dénomination de ce petit genre doi-seaux : celle de Troglodyte, en grec TpwyXoWryjç,quils adoptèrent, explique en effet parfaitementlhabitude quont ces volatiles de se tenir, soit, pourvivre soit pour se reproduire, dans les cavernes,les masures, les piles de bois, le long des reversdes fossés ombragés, en un mot, dans les endroitsles plus sombres.
