LATTEqROND vakRoTTERDAM ad Rotterdam. Anno 1909. 246 HAVENSTEDEN. — BLOKZIJL. koste ontwikkelde zich nu Rotterdam, dut allengs de beteekeniskreeg, welke aanvankelijk voor Delft weggelegd was. En Delftshaven? Het bleef wat het was, het stiefkind van Delft, in haar groeibelemmerd, trots haar gunstige ligging en haar doelmatige havens,tot zij in 1866 met heur havens bij Rotterdam werd ingelijfd (zieafb. N°. 128) en ophield als zelfstandige gemeente, als stad te bestaan,hetgeen zij trouwens eerst bij kon. besl. van 31 Juli 1825 geworden was. Hadden die van Del ft in 1536 een breederen en dieperen kijk gehadin de toekomst, en wat meer gedurfd ook, de geschiedenis van Delften Rotterdam ware hoogst waarschijnlijk eene andere geworden. De havenstad Blokzijl. Daar de Steenwijker Aa de eenigste hoogst bekrompen wegZuiderzeewaarts was voor een groot gedeelte van Overijsel, werddoor het betrokken schoutambt, na daartoe verkregen toestemming,vanaf het gehucht Muggebeet een kanaal gegraven zeewa
