It suits our taste better along Cowallis Crick. 394 The Outing Magazine The Judge and I have been down toBucket Pond once. Cowallis Crick flowsinto that pond. It isnt far, but we shallnot go again. Theres a summer hotel onthe shore. The men sojourners wearknee panties and slouch hats with flieshooked around the hat-hands, and theychalk up their days fish scores on a black-board in the hotel office, and then standaround the board and discuss the matterall the evening. And the funny part of it is, they have nofish to show. The men in knee panties go out each dayin boats with a native guide to row themaround. They cast for the bass and oftenget two and sometimes three strikes at acast. More than that, they get excited.It is a peculiar fact that every native guideat Bucket Pond has from one to a dozennicks in his ears.
