The scenery in theneighborhood is delightful. Before continuing our journey throughStroud, and crossing a stream, on a smallbridge, we passed on to Nailsworth, onthe opposite side of the stream, and be-gan what proved to be the very hard-est climb we were to have. It was nightand quite dark before we were againable to mount. We had to toil upward,seemingly hour after hour, pushing ourwheels before us. Our one reward was,while resting on the mountainside, towatch one of the most beautiful sun-sets seen in England. Far, far below,we could see the small village we hadpassed long before, lying in the valley,by the little stream.
