The name of Rev. Robert OCallaghanhas been associated with most of thenoted Irish setters of later years. Hisbeautiful Aveline was a model, and shetook second place at the English KennelClubs Derby, where she was greatly ad-mired, both for her fine contour and herexcellent style and speed. This gentle-man has recently bred dogs to even sur-pass her. There are fewer Irish than English set-ters, and, as a natural consequence, theyare not as well known ; yet since atten-tion has been given to the breed inAmerica, dogs have been bred worthyof greater prominence than they havegained ; notably Elcho, who sired Joe, ject of the illustration.
