Title
Palaeolithic handaxe
Description
English: A small flint Acheulian handaxe of white/brown flint dating to the Lower Palaeolithic. It has a truncated butt end, and broadly angled sides that taper to a tip. The object has a very shallow S-shaped profile. It is covered by removals, particularly along its edges. One of the faces has been left far less knapped and thus higher than the other, presumably to aid holding. The removals have been smoothed by water action. One side is far whiter, with orange/brown staining towards the tip, the other features a variety of brown colours.
