Cristobal boasts of its own independentharbor, which, from being situated at theentrance of the Canal, and consequently inthe Zone, is essentially American. It hastwo large docks—Nos. 11 and 14—whichare now in operation, and which have af-forded considerable relief to the docks inthe Port of Colon, proper, which latter havebeen unable to cope with the increased de-mands of the shipping lately. The docksare provided with a Cantilever-Crane forthe handling of ordinary cargoes, and aBrown-Hoist Coal Plant for the dischargeof colliers. For the past year or so, Cristobal hasbeen making rapid strides in the way of ex-pansion towards the district known as ^^FoxRiver, which she is so steadily absorbingthat she now shows signs of finally converg-ing into Mount Hope, a village some twomiles distant from Colon, and where an ex-
