In the foreground at center, rolling hills spotted with vegetation can be seen. A small building bordered by a fence is visible at right. In the background at the base of the mountains, the city of Avalon can be seen bordering the harbor. The large harbor is in the shape of a semicircle, and a small pier can be seen at its center. A large steamboat is docked at the pier. Additional boats dot the water. Previous version of record states: "1900 (photographer) or 1905 (C.M. Loud in "Berkely & Avalon")".
