Description
English: Rct. Christopher Kryhoski, Platoon 3045, adjusts the gas mask of Rct. Anthony Sagastume, Platoon 3044, both with India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, during chemical and biological warfare defense training April 22, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. This training instills confidence in the recruits’ ability to operate in a chemically or biologically contaminated environment. Kryhoski, a 22-year-old native of Clearwater, Fla., and Sagastume, an 18-year-old native of West Orange, N.J., are scheduled to graduate June 13, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. MaryAnn Hill)
