English: "baby's petticoat, long, locality- New Zealand. Trimmed with lace and insertion c1916" (col.card) Material- fine cream batiste(.) bobbin lace and ayrshire embroidery insertion. Long baby petticoat with one piece bodice, wide shallow neckline and cut out armholes. Bodice has drawstring fastenings at CB neck and waist. Neck edge trimmed with 7mm bobbin lace and armholes with 3mm bobbin lace. ( Valencienne) A full gathered skirt is pleat gathered on to bodice and is finished at hemline with a 25mm band of bobbin lace insertion, a 25mm band of ayrshire embroidery insertion and a 30mm slightly gathered scalloped frill of bobbin lace.
