Transcript InfoField | Caverswall Castle was originally erected by Sir William de Caverswall in the reign of Edward I. The building, however, seems to have fallen into ruins during the 16th and 17th centuries, and in 1643 Matthew Cradock erected the present building on the same site. It was for some time occupied by a community of nuns. |
