Title
possibly Roman Steelyard Weight
Description
English: Lead possible Steelyard Weight. Cast [originally] triangular weight, made in an open mould with a former inserted to produce an aperture of diameter 3mm in the broader top side (as cast). This appears to have made provision for the insertion of a suspension loop, a usual feature of Roman steelyard weights. This object has been neatly truncated by an angled cut. As the object is patinated all over, this alteration took place in antiquity. Suggested date: possibly Roman, 43-410.

Width: 41.6mm, Height: 26.6mm, Thickness: 15.4mm, Weight: 111.82gms.
