Description
English: An incomplete post-Medieval lead alloy button (c. 1650-c. 1750).

The shank and rim are missing.

This button is roughly circular in plan. At the centre a large pellet is surrounded by a circle of two interwoven strands of rope. These are enclosed by a circle of thirteen scarab-like or insect-like motifs. The rear face is plain and at the centre there is the stub of an integral shank. The outer edge is uneven due to breaks or corrosion.

Length: 33.0mm; width: 32.2mm; thickness: 7.0mm. Weight: 21.19g.
