Title |
Post-Medieval possible Apothecary Weight |
||
Description |
English: Lead weight. Cast rectangular plano-convex billet with a pyramidal four-sided top; lightly patinated. The mass does not immediately suggest what system the object may have observed. Small lead weights are often considered as apothecary weights, albeit their purpose is actually unknown, and occasionally approach this value (e.g. Biggs, N. and Withers, P. 2000, Lead Weights: The David Rogers Collection, White House and Galata, Llanffylin, pages 50-53, nos 176 [4.09gms], 186 [4.72gms] and 204 [4.78gms]). Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1620
Length: 17.8mm, Width: 10.9mm, Thickness: 5.6mm, Weight: 4.96gms |
