Title
Post Medieval powder flask cap (top, profile and base)
Description
English: The object is a double looped oval shaped buckle. It is made from cast copper alloy. In plan, the buckle is a sub oval with one apex of a loop being slightly pointed. The loops are undecorated, but the outer edge is slightly obliquely angled. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The strap bar is narrowed, and is trapezoidal in section. The pin is missing. The buckle frame has a dark green patina. The buckle measures 21.98mm long and 17.31mm wide. It weighs 1.9g. Egan and Pritchard (2002 Dress Accessories Boydell Press) illustrate a similar buckle (No. 375), and dates these type of buckles to the mid 14th to mid 15th century.
