Title
Post Medieval Pendant
Description
English: Silver lozenge-shaped bead, hollow, with integral suspension loop and ring; hole at other end. Decorated with applied filigree circles and loops. Though the decoration is reminiscent of that found on 16th Century dress pins reported through the Treasure Act, this object seems to me to be machine-made and consequently much later in date. The form suggests a 19th Century date and my guess is that this is part of an ear-ring of relatively recent manufacture. It does not therefore come under the 1996 Treasure Act (Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, The British Museum).
