Post Medieval heart-shaped hooked tag
Description
English: Early Post Medieval incomplete Tinned or silvered hooked tag from clothing, heart-shaped back-plate with notched outside edge, traces of solder indicating outer edge of missing applied bosses on face and springing of missing hook on reverse. Separate oval-sectioned horizontal bar on reverse, the inserted and bent-over ends of which are visible on the face. 24 x 28mm. cheap version of form of object more commonly found in silver, Cf. Gaimster, Hayward, Mitchell and Parker Antiq. J. (2002). A similar fragment was found in Mettingham.16th century.
