Title
Post Medieval lace tag
Description
English: A sheet silver lace tag of Post Medieval date. It is a tube of silver sheet with a butt seam. Both ends are broken and one end is crushed. It is decorated with a lattice work of lozenge shapes, each containing a fleur de lis. At the flattened end is a band of more fleurs above the lattice area. The metal does not appear to be machine stamped, but the lozenges can be seen as recesses on the inside of the tube. The aglet probably dates form the 16th or 17th century and similar fleur motifs can be seen on thimbles of this date such as 2011 T738 (<a href="../../../database/artefacts/record/id/470578">IOW-7E8237</a>). The sheet is 0.49mm thick.

As the object is made of substantially of silver and is likely to be more than 300 years old, it meets the requirements of the 1996 Treasure Act.
