Title
Post medieval cannon ball
Description
English: An iron cannon ball probably dating from the Post Medieval period. At 883g (1lb, 15oz) and a diamater of 62mm (2.4in) this was almost certainly used with a Falcon Cannon which had a bore of 2.5in and took a ball of 2lb. The cannon ball is rusted and has a flaking surface but is otherwise in good condition. These cannon were developed in the late 15th century, but continued to be used into the modern period. It probably dates from the 16th or 17th century, but could be later.
