Post medieval shoe buckle with stud chape
Description
English: Post medieval buckle; cast copper alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle with separate spindle and stud chape. This buckle dates from the late 17th or early 18th centuries, c.1690-1720. The buckle has a slightly curved, oval-rectangular frame, drilled on either side at the centre to hold the separate spindle. The chape which is fitted around the spindle has a fixing stud at the terminal and a single, tapering pointed pin at the other.

Length 27.0mm, width 17.3mm, thickness 5.1mm, weight 2.76g
