Title
post medieval spur
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper-alloy spur of Post-Medieval date. It is missing one terminal, rowel and most of one side of the frame due to old breaks. The frame is D-shaped in section and taper from the thicker central area towards the terminals. A centrally placed and integrally cast rowel box is oval in section formed from two arms. What may be a fragment of the copper alloy rivet is in situ within the end of the arms. The terminal has two circular lobes. Both of which have the rivet still in place.

This is an incomplete rowl spur of Post-Medieval date similar to examples recorded on this database (see SF-3329A8, SF-F26354 and ESS-60B064) and by Margeson (1993: nos. 1799-1800). Spurs of this type date to between the 17th and 18th centuries AD.
